Design and Manufacture of an Electrolyser for its Application in Obtaining Hydrogen as Fuel by Jorge Ivan Cifuentes_ Alkaline Electrolyser Abstract  This paper shows the most important aspects of the operation of an alkaline electrolyser which was sized to adapt to the fuel demand conditions of an internal combustion engine under idle speed and considering a stoichiometric mixture. In the experimental part, the hydrogen flow rate generated by the electrolyzer was determined under nominal conditions, using a flowmeter based on the principle of gas collection in water. With the built electrolyser, a capacity factor of 2.62ml W-1 min-1 and a flow rate of 3.29lpm were obtained which was sufficient for the satisfactory operation of the engine. With the development of this project was proved that an ordinary internal combustion engine can operate using only hydrogen as fuel, without the need for any modification in its factory design. https://crimsonpublishers.com/eme/fullte...

Methods to Re-Use and Recycle Aluminium Machining Swarf_Crimson Publishers

Image
Methods to Re-Use and Recycle Aluminium Machining Swarf by  Anguilano L * in  Evolutions in Mechanical Engineering_ Recycling process Abstract Large amounts of aluminium end up as machining swarf disposed of in landfills, reducing the amount of aluminium used for the actual manufacturing, and increasing the cost of the final product, thus ultimately contributing to environmental pollution. Finding a way to remove the aluminium oxide layer that is formed in the surface of the swarf, is the main challenge faced during the recycling process of this material. This paper aims at presenting a short review of the challenges and the methods employed for swarf recycling.   An Insight of a Needle Free Injector with Magnetic Material by Vicente Fachina* in Evolutions in Mechanical  Engineering _ Needle-free injector technology Abstract Needle-free injector technology  (NFIT) has drawn attention due to their advantages. By using NFIT, it can be used several times unlike a conventional needle. Also, it makes patients free from pain. Since NFIT by jet injection is achieved by ejecting a liquid drug through a narrow orifice at high pressure, thereby creating a fine high-speed fluid jet that can readily penetrate skin and tissue. Until very recently, all jet injectors utilized force-and pressure-generating principles that progress injection in an uncontrolled manner with limited ability to regulate delivery volume and injection depth. In order to address these shortcomings, we have developed a controllable jet injection device, based on a custom high-stroke linear Lorentz-force motor. Using this device, we can monitor and modulate cont...

Effect of Transport Coefficient Modeling on Hypersonic Non-Equilibrium Flow Simulations

Image
Effect of Transport Coefficient Modeling on Hypersonic Non-Equilibrium Flow Simulations by Xiaowen Wang_ Numerical Simulations Abstract  Many important scientific and engineering applications, such as strong shock and turbulence interactions and hypersonic boundary-layer stability and transition, involve strong shocks and high temperature effects. These processes are strongly nonlinear and proven to be very complex to understand with existing tools. The most widely used shock capturing methods may incur numerical oscillations near the shock and may not be accurate enough for  Numerical Simulations  of hypersonic boundary-layer stability and transition problems. To solve such problems, a unique approach of using high-order shock-fitting method is adopted, where the shock is treated by shock-fitting method as a sharp boundary. However, there are no reported studies on the effects of transport coefficient modeling, chemical reaction rate and equilibrium const...

Hydrogen Economy: Alternative Approaches by Vicente Fachina* in Evolutions in Mechanical   Engineering_ Hydrogen Economy Besides traditional approaches for producing and storing hydrogen from cheap, surplus electricity or heat to use in energy conversion processes, this paper aims at simulating the feasibility of using water as energy carrier by two alternative approaches: Hydrogen Combustion from water splitting, and LENR-Low Energy Nuclear Reactions . The former can yield 106J/kg-water magnitude energy intensity; the latter can yield 109 J/kg-water magnitude energy intensity. https://crimsonpublishers.com/eme/fulltext/EME.000525.php Evolutions in Mechanical Engineering _ Crimson Publishers For more open access journals in Crimson Publishers Please click on link: https://crimsonpublishers.com/ For more Articles on  Hydrogen Economy   Please click on: https://crimsonpublishers.com/eme/ Follow On Publons  : https://publons.com/publish...
